DIRTY REDS on foxtel and waratah guard of honor
Drummoyne Dirty Reds, played host to a film crew from broadcaster Fox Sports, on February 5 at Taplin Park, when the sports channel shot a commercial that will screen nationally later this month on all Foxtel channels.
The Dirty Reds Under 14 team, their counterparts from Hunters Hill Rugby Club and parents and supporters all put their acting chops to the test during the shoot, with six scenes featuring the boys showing off their skill sets, including scrums, intercepts, tries and some flying footwork being filmed.
The boys, who were premiers in their division as an Under 13 team last year, have a close bond and enjoyed shaking the cobwebs off their rugby boots, although few professed a desire to become film stars after the lengthy three hour shoot.
The promo is part of Fox Sports 2014 Super Rugby coverage and is designed to showcase Grassroots Rugby at its finest.
The shoot ensured a busy start to the pre-season for the club, which was also involved in the Waratahs' first trial game at Allianz Stadium on Friday February 7 against the Auckland Blues, which featured former West Tigers star Benji Marshall in his first game of Rugby Union, and a celebrity match up against Waratah's star Israel Folau.
Seventeen Dirty Reds boys made up the guard of honour as flag bearers, waving the two teams onto the field. Our boys saved their biggest cheers for the Waratahs, when they burst onto the turf with a new energy and enthusiasm for 2014. It was a great thrill for the Drummoyne boys to show off their pride in their club. The night of course was topped off by a Waratahs win!
Lets get behind our state team this year - The Tahs - and attend the games to show our support. Kids U12 and younger get in free!! Read about this great offer. Click on the image below

Try Rugby is a program designed to introduce players U6-U9 to play rugby in a fun, non-tackle environment. We welcome both boys’ and girls to come along and play. There is the opportunity for parents to ask coaches questions about playing rugby.
It will cost $20 (for all 3 sessions) and includes some free items (e.g. water bottle, ball) and a sausage sizzle.
Walk up club registration for all grades will be taking place at the same time as Try Rugby program: 14, 21, 28 Feb 5.30pm to 7pm at Taplin Oval, Drummoyne. Cash, EFTPOS, credit card and cheques will be accepted.
We are also anticipating having an online option for players who have previous played for the club. ARU will be sending those players an email with individual login details. We will let you know when they do so that you can keep an eye out for it.

Competitions & Draws
Round 1 is to be held on the 4th, 5th and 6th of April, 2014
Our U6-U9 teams are part of the Inner West Mini competition. Game day matches are played at St Luke's Oval, Concord on Saturday mornings. We only play in school term.
The Inner West clubs of Balmain, Canterbury, Drummoyne, Hunters Hill, Petersham and Wests will participate once again this season. The competition has been established with the full support of both the Australian (ARU) and NSW Rugby Unions. Inner West children and parents will have access to a local competition involving local teams and clubs.
The competition is been established;
- With the strong purpose of fostering junior rugby development in the greater Inner West area of Sydney;
- To provide young girls and boys the opportunity to experience the game of rugby and the best values associated with rugby union; and
- To promote healthy participation in a team sport and the resultant fun, enjoyment and friendships that team environments provide.
Once again all games for teams aged U6 to U9 areplayed at a single venue. Initially games will be held at Wests Juniors home ground of St. Luke’s Park, Concord. It is also intended that some rounds may also also be held at Drummoyne Oval and Taplin Park. The great news is that because of the single venue every round will have a gala day atmosphere, allowing players and parents across grades to catch up with one another every week.
Competition start dates and the season draw will be available soon on our website.
Our U10-U16 play in Sydney Junior Rugby Union Sunday competition (there are no zones as previous demarcated in years past). Games follow school terms but some games occur in the last week of school holidays.
