Match Report

The last home game of the 2015 regular season saw the Drummoyne Dirty Reds come up against local rivals the Balmain Muzzled Wolves. In 1st grade a win to Drummoyne would keep the race alive for the minor premiership, with a top two finish already secured. Drummoyne showed promise early on attempting to play an up tempo pace which was clearly unsettling the Balmain outfit. A dominant set piece, and strong defensive line were the main contributors in Drummoyne trailing 13-0 at the half.

The Dirty Reds increased their intensity at the start of the 2nd half, with two penalty goals to Luke Giles reducing the deficit to seven points. Unfortunately Balmain responded with three tries during the middles stage of the half, pushing victory beyond reach for the Reds. It was great to see Tom Pashley providing great impact off the bench, which was rewarded with a well deserved try. The score finished 35-13 in favour to Balmain.

A week out from the finals we face a strong Brothers outfit fresh from a win against Balmain a fortnight ago. This will no doubt be a great match to prepare for the finals campaign ahead. Following the final round fixtures against Brothers, the club will be hosting our annual Black Tie Ball. I encourage all players and supporters of the club to attend what is sure to be the highlight of the Rugby social calendar.
