Match Report

It was clear from the outset in 1st grade that Petersham had their tails up after a strong win Tuesday night against the Whales. They commenced the scoring with a penalty shot after we struggled to exit from our own half after multiple attempts. The Reddies bounced back with a great team try finished by Luke Maybank in the left hand corner, with almost every player in the 15 touching the ball along the way. We finished the half camped in the Shammies 22m, but were unable to finish the half with points, and even though the score was only 5-3 our heads were up after a dominant first half.

We were able to re-gather from the 2nd half kickoff and were rewarded in the form of a penalty goal to Giles. Although Petersham were able to gain the lead again after a try and conversion from the corner. Again good pressure from the kick off resulted in a turn over which lead to points in the form of a strong rolling maul finished off by Rob Hahn. Petersham began to cave from the mountain of pressure with Drummoyne scoring on the back of Steve Bruce darting from the ruck, exploiting lazy ruck defenders, linking up with Nick Stephenson to score under the posts. Luke Giles put the final nail in with a show and go down the short side, to score a try with the final score 28-10 in favour of the Reds.
