Match Report

Mosman have set the standard for the completion and were sitting in second spot on the ladder. One of their two losses for the season had been a nail biter at Drummoyne Oval, where we prevailed 12-7. A win would potentially move us into the top four.

We started strongly, dominating territory and possesion, culminated in lock David Shaw crossing the line for a converted try. Mosman’s defence held firm throughout the rest of the half and they kicked a late penalty goal to take the score to 7-3 in our favour.

The second half was an absolute arm wrestle, with neither defence giving an inch. We had opportunities to score, but some poor ball handling saw the ball go astray while in a scoring position. A yellow card for a high tackle in the final minutes of the match handed Mosman the opportunity to attack our scrum, eventually working their way up the field to score a try on the bell, winning 8-7.

The entire team had played so well and were heartbroken to have lost such a tight match against a top 2 team. Flanker Tom Pashley was a standout, taking the ball into contact over and over. Flanker Rabeeh Karaali put in a huge amount of defensive work, while fly-half Dan Higgins, Scrum half Gavin Taylor and prop Travis Casey all stood up strongly.
