Match Report

A midweek make-up game is always a risk as players can tend to take a game too easily and coaches will always worry about injuries. Thankfully the players were ready to play from the first minute.

Lock Dave Shaw, flanker Corey Luyten and winger Pat Long scored the first 3 tries in the corner before the opposition finally got some possession and hit back with a try of their own. Pat Long scored his second, along with centre Andy Summerton, which took the half time score to 25-5.

With the bonus point already sewn up, the game opened up.  Centre Ash O’Rourke and fly-half Dan Higgins scored converted tries before prop Benn Sykes and lock Matt Mezger finished off the try scoring spree. A last minute try by Iggies took the score to 58-10.

The team successfully took the bonus point without picking up any injuries. Individually, scrum half Tom D’Arbon stood up and directed the team from the base of the ruck. Flanker Rabeeh Karaali make some huge tackles that stopped the opposition in their tracks, while Benn Sykes led from the front and ensure that the intensity didn’t let up for the entire match.
