2nd Grade vs Mosman – Round 5 – 27th May 2017

Result: 33‐12 win

Tries: Teddy Ratsaralafy, Luke Battenbough 2, Rabeeh Karaali, George Vi
Con: Luke Battenbough 4

Mosman has always been a challenging place to play and despite the cramped warm up area and the previous game running 5 minutes over, the team came out firing. The forwards took a lineout in the Mosman 22m zone and performed 6 phases of pick and drive before prop Teddy Ratsaralafy drove over for the opening try, which was converted by scrum half Luke Battenbough. Battenbough scored a try of his own a few minutes later in the opposite corner, again converting to take a 14‐0 lead into half time.

Battenbough opened the scoring in the second half with another try from a 5m scrum. Mosman replied with their first try, taking the score to 19‐5 to Drummoyne. Flanker Rabeeh Karaali was next to score a converted try as he carried a defender over the line from close range. Mosman took a number of quick taps near our line to get their second try. Centre George Vi broke multiple tackles to score under the post for a converted try that took the final score to 33‐12.

It was hard to give best and fairest points this week as the entire team played so strongly, however the forwards dominated their opposite pack, led strongly by captain and number eight Sam Roach and flanker Simon Etheve who terrorised the Mosman inside backs. Battenbough ran amok behind a dominant pack and his 18‐point haul led us to another bonus point win.

This week will see a top of the table clash as we take on Waverley on their home turf. The winner will continue unbeaten in the competition.
