Drummoyne approached their clash with competition leaders with a quiet air of confidence, relishing the opportunity to test themselves against the best.
The game started at a fast pace with Drummoyne struggling to impose themselves on the game. Mosman started the strongest and showed why they are unbeaten this season by racing to a two try lead. Unfortunately, Drummoyne’s all but too common slow start left them chasing the game from the outset.
The men in red responded well after initially finding their feet in the game and looked dangerous when stringing phase play together. However, a lack of discipline across the park hurt Drummoyne and prevented any sustained pressure building up.
The message at half time focussed on a need for more intensity and better discipline and the boys improved on their first half start dramatically. Despite their best efforts, Drummoyne failed to get on the score sheet and slid to a hard to swallow 33-nil defeat.
This week sees the start of potentially season defining period. Drummoyne know that they can take a lot from the game as long as they continue to build and learn on last week’s performance. There’s no better opportunity to turn things around against buoyant new boys Waverley.
