Colts Match Report – Sat 1 July 2017 – Drummoyne vs Colleagues
Colleagues away is always one of the toughest fixtures on the calendar and Drummoyne Colts knew that this match would follow suit. Coming off the back of a tough to take defeat the week before, Drummoyne went into this match determined to bounce back from the previous week’s disappointment.
Drummoyne started the match lacking intensity with Colleagues edging the opening exchanges. This allowed Colleagues to gradually settle into their structure and build pressure on Drummoyne’s defence. Drummoyne did show promising signs of good line speed in defence, but unfortunately this was infrequent and not enough to stop Colleagues opening up a 14-nil lead at half time.
Drummoyne spoke at the bream about increasing their intensity, work rate and effort levels to get back in to the game, knowing that they had to impose themselves on the game.
Despite Drummoyne’s best efforts, Colleagues continued to build on a dominant first half display by consistently breaking the gain-line and threatening Drummoyne’s try line.
Drummoyne refused to give up, but struggled to create any real chances as they we’re often unable to secure first phase possession at the lineout. Colleagues capitalised to record a convincing 28-0 win.
This week gives Colts an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways against a physical St Pats outfit. It’s important the team regroup, train hard and hit the ground running on Saturday to bounce back.
Colts would like to thank Robbie Glen for his support and help on Saturday.
