Knox away is usually amongst one of the hardest fixtures on the list. This year proved no different.
Drummoyne were fielding a somewhat depleted team, with a number of unavailability’s taking its toll. The boys knew that it was going to take a huge effort across the park to take home the points.
The first half saw both teams settle into the game often cancelling out one another’s phase play. After a fairly even opening period, Drummoyne turned pressure into points to take a 3‐nil lead. They held on to this slender lead and an excellent line out move results in a 5 pointer just before the break.
Drummoyne were forced into a number of changes, and it was time for the bench to shine. Shine they did. The second half proved to be equal like the first, with both sides trading blows with Knox
gaining the upper hand in the last 5 minutes with a 6‐point lead. It was up to Drummoyne to show the metal we all know they have and they continued to build pressure in the dying minutes. The
pressure resulted in a try and a conversion attempt to take a 1‐point lead. The conversion was made, the subsequent kick off safely taken and Drummoyne wore the clock down to take a narrowest of wins 15‐16. A fantastic effort and deserved victory against a strong Knox team.
A big thanks to the new faces who came along to help us out to grind out a win. With 4 games left, much of the same is needed to make a top 4 berth.
